When traditional finance meets web 3: the launch of a metaverse ETF

Virtual universes in financial markets – This investment company is launching a new exchange traded fund (ETF) focused on metaversewhich European investors will be able to trade on three exchanges.
Franklin Templeton in new finance after 75 years
Franklin Templeton Investments is a securities investment company. It was originally founded in New York in 1947. It has since moved its headquarters to San Mateo, California in 1986. The company offers various investment products both individual investors and financial professionals, or institutional investors.
As of July 31, Franklin Templeton managed over $1.4 trillion in assets. At the height of its 75 years, the investment company has been able to adapt to changes in finance. Last year, the company set up a blockchain-focused venture capital which aimed to raise up to $20 million. She also launched an American mutual fund on the blockchain.
More recently, Franklin Templeton welcomed an alumnus from investment bank Citi, who will lead its digital asset research activities.

A metaverse-focused ETF on three exchanges in Europe
Franklin Templeton wants increase its investments in the web3. In this context, it launched the stock exchange traded fund “ Franklin Metaverse UCITS ETF », aimed at European investors. This ETF tracks the performance ofSolactive Global Metaverse Innovation Net Total Return indexwhich includes companies that have significantly exposed themselves to the metaverse.
This index also includes companies who have been exposed, directly or indirectly, to blockchain applications which can be used in particular by metaverses, such as the payment company Block, or the cryptocurrency investment company Galaxy Digital.
The Franklin Metaverse UCITS ETF is listed on the Deutsche Borse Xetra (XETRA) from September 7. He will enter the Borsa Italiana and at London Stock Exchange (LSE), September 9.
Franklin Templeton thus offers its ETF dedicated to the metaverse to European investors, a little less than nine months after ProShares made a filing with the American SEC, to be able to launch a similar investment product.
